Brian, this is just my guess but from looking at old black and white factory photos I believe that some of the early ones may have been painted a lighter grey. I would paint any 10-20 the dark grey because i think they look better that way. What I do is buy a gallon of rustoleum gloss black from Walmart and hand match a little white in it, (takes about 1/3 cup)
