brakes on super mta

The right brake is almost non-existent, so I am planning on replacing both discs. Not having done this before, is there anything that I should know about, or look for? The left side works excellent so I am wondering what it is that I am going to find. Any tips or suggestions will be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
