Had a Cadillac Sedan Deville do the same thing.

The batt. was under a year old, it would barely click, not turn over.
put the charger on it, and it wight be able to kick over once, thne die.

Put jumpers on from a Running Corvette and Ram 1500 (both have HD alts) and it would start slowly.

We almost had the engine apart to get at the starter, when I decided to call a friend. He said.."check your cables, and terminals"

Sure enough, one was corroded on the bottom of the terminal. Cleaned it up, and it fired up immediatly!

Coincidentally, a month or so later it did the same thing again, but there was no corrosion, the batt. was bad. Had 12.1 volts on it, but no amps, it had shorted out inside.

In all the cars, mowers and tractors Ive had, most have had a no start situation, and only once has it been a starter. on a '62 Wheel Horse mower, one of the brushed had come loose and dropped into the armature..*nasty*

Every other time it was a bad battery, or a switch or wiring.
