Well, brother and I worked on the new 706 for hours on Saturday, trying to get it into hi range. It will shift into hi, but as you leave the clutch out, it makes a terrible grinding and pops back out. We pulled the top cover off the tranny, and the only thing we can figure out is that when the shift lever is in Hi range, it is not pushing the coupler far enough to completely mesh the gears. Does this sound plausible? Any ideas how to fix it? Anything else we should check for? Also, putting that cover back down was a real treat. Is it better to open the left side panel on the trans to help align everything? You guys have come up with the answers before, so I am hoping you can help us out again. Thanks.
