I have a buddy that has a 1206. He was having a similar problem where he couldn't get it into Hi range but Lo and Reverse worked ok. He took the tin off right in front of the steering wheel. Some of the linkages up in there were worn. He just built it back up with a bead of weld. Not sure exactly what part it was. I do remember that there was a small spring that went for a test flight when he was taking it apart. Luck was on his side because he was able to find the spring. Basically he just wiggled the shifter until he was able to spot the culprit. Good luck.
