340 Farmall hyd problem

I recently changed the filter and fluid on my 340. After doing this the pump, which is the 9gpm one mounted in front of the dist, won't pick up its' prime. I've tried cracking the line on the output side but no go. It pushes out a little oil but not much. Is there a way to prime this pump or do I have some other problem. I've followed the manuel to the letter. Thanks in advance for any help. PUTTER
