International 340 Utility Hydraulic System

Hi, Just purchased a 340 utility and hydraulics are not working properly. Fixed a bad leak in the steel lines, but need to add fluid. Ordered manuals but have not arrived yet. I see from another posting that the fluid is added in the big pipe plug next to the gearshift lever. Anyone know what type of fluid/ gear oil? Seems like the same oil is used for the trans grease and hydraulic oil. Are the pumps prone to failure? Hard to rebuild if bad? Thanks, Scott
