' 40 Farmall M Ignition

Hello,
I have a 1940 M that was stored in a barn since the mid '70s. It is in nice condition & the motor is loose, but over time someone stole the Magneto/Distributor from it.
How do I find out if it originally had a Mag or a Distributor?
I already have a Distributor from a junked McCormick W-9, and was wondering if it would work.
