I have been trying to get someone to haul 12 tractors out of Spur , Texas to Western , Pa. When I set down and do the math, it is 1460 miles one way. If a truck gets 10 miles to the gallon, that amounts to 146 gallons of a fuel. At $2 a gallon that is $292. Everybody I talk to tells me that $1.00 per mile is the going rate. People who get stuff hauled must not care about the prices they pay. I say this because people offering to haul feel that they are doing you a favor to haul one tractor for $1460. No one in there right mind is going to pay that? Even if they haul 2 tractors that is still $730 per tractor. Perhaps I am losing it, but I can't afford to haul them at more than $400 per tractor. Does anyone have a contact with a 48 footer who could haul tractors out of Texas at about $1600 to $1800 a trip?
