Today, I installed a fuel filter in the M's gas line between the sediment bowl and the carburetor. In 1997, my father cut out a short piece of the gas line near the sediment bowl and replaced it with a rubber hose. The rubber hose was just long enough to connect the parts of the gas line, and with the hose that is on it, the filter can only be installed almost horizontally. There is some air trapped in the filter -- the end where the gas goes out is slightly lower than the end where it goes in, and the filter is a little less than half full of gas. Is this a problem? If it is, what can be done about it? Do I need more rubber hose for it? Also, a little gas leaks out around the gas line where it connects to the sediment bowl.
