Pulling 986 range cover

I have lost the detent on the high low forks in the range transmision. I understand it is not unusual for the spring to fail (?). I have stripped the cab deck out and am ready to disconnect linkage and pull the cover (that seat was heavy). Is there any thing I need to look out for? I don't have any good skematics of what is underneath, but it seams pretty streight foward. Any advice would be appreciated.
