You probaly know this but the 1939 through early 1941 tractors have different PTO drives than later tractors. What you will see in transmission counter shaft is a slot about 3/4 inch wide that looks a little like a broken out piece. If counter shaft is broken you will have to drop hydraulic pump, remove clutch and pressure plate (clutch may not have to come out on H do not remember), remove deck top and disassemble transmission to replace it.
