Question on 12 volt conversion

Thanks Bill for the diagram and advice.
Forgive me if this is a dumb question
but what do I have to do different since
my tractor has a mag instead of a distributer
if anything, do I still need the resistor
or can the wire from the switch hook directly
to the terminal on the mag? thanks
