I send 500 lb steers to the Flint Hills for 120 days and always figure 3 1/2 acres per head. It all depends on what type of grass you have. I also pasture 500 lb steers in an intensive managed padock system and put about 40 head on 35 acres. Another system that I have is a rotational grazing of 30 acres and I put 15 head on that one. Your grass type (tame, native, legume, etc.)and moisture (rain) will dictate what you can do. Also wheather you intend to grain them in addition to grazing them. Check out what the locals in your area are doing and don't try to reinvent the wheel right off the bat. Get your feet wet following along what they are doing. GOOD LUCK & HAVE FUN
