Muffler replacement

I owen a farmall 656. If I remove the muffler and put on a crome straight pipe will it hurt the tractor in any way? Or would i benefit from it in any way, such as horse power or running a little cooler? I currently use it in the field and I'm starting to get involved in tractor pulling. Any info would be great.
