I purchased a 1982 S1900 truck a year ago with the DT466, that just had a new short block put in prior and it doesen't have the coolant filter conditioner assembly. I changed the coolant last fall with 60/40 glycol antifreeze and water. I just purchased two pints of Fleetguard DCA4 conditioner and added it to the system, per the recommended chart to get the recommended levels of molybdate and Nitrites. Per the test strips, if the readings are really low (below 1.2 units per gallon) it says to change the coolant filter and add a pint of DCA4 and if the readings are between 1.2 and 3 to either change the filter or add 1 pint DCA4, and above 3 not to do either. It says to check at every oil change interval. I can purchase a used coolant filter assembly from a DT414 and install but would like to know if others feel that is a benefit over just adding the DCA4? I didn't know if the conditioner filter just adds a time dose of conditioner or actually is needed to filter the coolant? I want the engine to last a long time. Any advise is very much appreciated. Thanks, Todd

To top that off, you have a cup with oil in it ("why would you want to lubricate your carburetor?"). On closer examination (and some reading in a AC D-14 service manual), I found out that this is a pretty ingenious method of cleaning the air in the tractor's intake tract.
