I would be looking for fuel starvation problems as well. Next time it stops, jump off and pull the fuel line off the carb, you may find that there is no fuel coming out. This was a problem I had with my A when I was first got it. Found all kinds of dirt and bugs in the gas tank were getting caught up in the sediment bowl, after cleaning that tank up she never quit again. BUT, I"m not sure about the "popping" trouble. I had that and could never quite figure it out. My carb was not the original and alot of people were saying the tractor was running too rich. I"ve since sold it to a guy in Mich. who says it has been mowing every week since he bought it.
