had a similar same thing happen to me and it was a leaf the previous owner,or someone had let get into the tank.It would float around hidden apparently,and eventually partially block fuel.I was adding fuel thinking it was a fuel-o-holic,and wondering why it looked so full to be running out.I had checked screen in the elbow of the carb,firing,timing,all those things that made sense.I eventually got it filled enouph and peeped inside (thanks to a yt member's suggestion haha I think it was bus driver)and I seen the cherry? tree leaf debris.got that out and it was ok.
