Steve - Grounding to the frame is universal. Have never seen a tractor equipped with electric start that is not grounded via the frame. However I like to add an auxiliary ground wire between the voltage regulator base and the grounded battery cable connection to the frame - it eliminates one common cause of the dreaded "generator won't charge" condition. Also make sure paint is scraped to so bare metal shows on mating surfaces when mounting electrical components (eg. generator to gen bracket, gen bracket to block, starter to bell housing, etc). I don't know offhand where the grounded battery cable bolts to the frame on a BN. However a buddy of mine has a restored BN - I will inquire and get back to you if you wish... That "paper" under the starter commutator dust band acts as a gasket to keep dust, water, etc out of the starter. Unless you are working your tractor or leaving it outdoors, you can get by without it. Or you can make your own gasket. I do it by applying a layer or two of electrical tape to the inside of the dust band then trimming around the edges with an exacto knife.

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
