When I was a young lad, about the same time as you were, every 4 cylinder gas Farmall on the farm had a 3/4 wrench in the tool box. Most of the reasons you have been given are a hoax. The real reason is 4 cylinder gas Farmall, I've seen them do it when they were 6 months old. I've seen them do it just after a dealer rebuild and I've seen them do it when 10 years old. I will say this, I have never seen the new clutch type starter drive do it. My Super A and 130 both used to do it before I installed the new type starter drive. I did not change either ring gear when I installed those starter drives. So now we can eliminate Farmall as the problem and put it right square where it belongs, "BENDIX", as other tractors using "BENDIX" used to lock up as well.
