Phil, you cant look at a condensor and tell if it is good or bad.I have got bad ones right of the box,IH too.If your are refering to the 12v to 6v resistor ahead of the coil you have to have it or points and condensor won't last long ,it might be a coincidence but I found the coil will get very hot when the condensor is bad. I'm not to sure your problem is not in the carb, Good luck
