At one point not too long ago I very nearly tried to crank start a '52 Super M. My Dad came along and drove the truck for me so I didn't have to, but he also told me that I shouldn't ever try because with the Super M not having a spark control lever I was very likely to have it kick back and break my arm. Now I know the correct proceedure for starting, I've even done it a couple times on cars, but is he right? I presume that the crank is there to be used, and I've even heard of people doing it. I also know that I'm way better off using the starter, but there are times when that just isn't practical... (dead battery)
