Of course you can take it off, you just get a little greasy. I put one on every fall to brush hog and take it off every spring to mow hay. I would steer away from the quick disconnect styles, as they are a little longer and will wiggle a little more. I find that the driveline works better the shorter and tighter you can keep it.
