Joe, I was given a magnetic block heater as a gift from my kids. You can stick it on the oil pan, side of the block, at the water pump housing, where ever you want to heat...TSC stores carry them and they were not expensive. When you are ready to go unplug it and set it on the bench for next time. I use mine on the bottom of the oil pan on a small diesel to heat it up when the temperatures get below -10C, I can start with a shot of ether above-10C. They are pretty nifty and easy to use....Mike in Exeter Ontario
