Don't know about the hydro's but I had a similiar problem with my 656. My problem was where the oil return goes from the 2pt valving it goes down between the bull gears on it's way back to the pump. the lines are steel execpt for at the bull gears there is a piece of hose about 6 or7 in long with clamps on it. My hose had failed and it was sucking air. I fixed mine through the Pto hole. I had to tape every 1/4 in extension I had together to tighten the clamps. This hose is normally submerged in oil, but would vortex to air real soon. Might be something for you to check
