Remove the belt pulley, or the plate where it would be,, and have a look at the shaft, if that bearing is out,, you should be able to move it and see if that is what it is. H's are famous for breaking the bearing castings off the differential housing. the brake pinion shaft holds it up,, but it will rub, and grind in there, kinda sounds like a slight clunk when the tractor first takes off, or the brakes applied, it can also sound like a lite gear grind sound too. it will also act like the brakes are on for a split second till it moves,,,, if you have problems getting it into gear, or sticking in 2 gears,, you may have the pilot bearing in the top shaft out,, it would make a real bad clunking if that was out, from the shaft wobbling up and down and not allowing the gears to properly mesh. Hope this helps a bit,, torn quite a few H trannys up and rebuilt them, thats what ive always heard when they break,, ChadS
