Farmall A Governor

Well, I removed the housing of an almost known bad governor. The core was in tight(or so I thought), when I just brushed the rotor of the mag, the core of the governor fell out, and now is refusing to go back in. I'm not sure how to get everything back into the proper places and in time with the engine. How do I get the timing gear cover on the front of the engine off, and are there marks on the gears?
