Sprout,Last year at this time I was getting a 1936 F-20 ready to paint also.I had it completely torn down and found no sign of gray paint on it anywhere. It had been repainted red over red sometime in the 70's.The frame rails were red on the inside, even where they bolted to the transmission and front bolster, which were also red.(not solid red,but more runs and over spray)I know that the tractor wasn't disassembled in the 70's to be repainted and I doubt that it had been if it was painted earlier in it's life.I can't remember the exact serial # ,But it seems it would have been mid-year production for 1936.John.
