Jeff This is a 6 12 volt system 12 for starting and 6 for run. You might have 12V to the distributer for starting but if not wired right maybe don't have 6v to run on. The selienod takes care of this. So just turn the switch on and see if you have voltage to the distributer. If you check spark to the plugs as you crank the 12 volt will say you have voltage. Have to check the other around to see if yoy have 12V for start not 6v. You could have 6v for starting but they like the 12v volt to start.
