i need a doctor!! having head trouble :

i got my 123c together, put water in it to start it.next thing i know water is dripping out around the head.what could it be? one guy said that i should use copper coat between the gasket and head & block.i checked the head and block both with stright-edge and .003 feeler. both are fine.any other sugestions?
