Farmall H Brakes...HELP!

Gear oil is pouring out of the brake covers on my H. So I pull the cover and the wheel that the band tightens against. Then I take the six bolts out of the plate that seems to house the seal, expecting this plate to pry off when I tap it with a hammer and pry with a screw driver. It has a gasket behind it, that I'm sure was leaking also. It looks to be a metal gasket. Well the plate will not come off...and before I break something, I need to know what is holding this thing on so tight and what do I need to do to get it off. Thanks for the help......
