Hi Bob, You can still see that kind of farming up in Lancaster PA, about 45 minutes from my home. The Amish still use horses and mules. They've crossed some of those draft horses with a Jack and have one big mule. I saw eight of those big mules hooked to a Conestoga wagon up at Kinser PA. The Amish has had to make some big changes in order to ship milk. They had to install coolers, milking parlors and use milkers. Even though they don't use electricity in their homes, they had to install generators for power. My wife sold a pressure canner to an Amish family and we delivered it since they don't use cars. A young lad was mowing off the corn stalks with a big rotary mower with an engine mounted on it, but was being towed by 3 mules. They're very nice pictures of the way farming was done years ago. Hal
