I think he made a mistake. With a cut-out field goes to field on the cutout. Bat on the cutout goes to the amp meter on the side that goes to the starter sw. ARM on the gen goes to the gen post on the cutout and the wire from the light sw with the resistor goes to the field on the cutout. I have 8 tractors As and Bs this way. They are all original set ups with the DELCO REMY cutouts and of course positive ground. The wire coming from the resistor post is for the hi-charge position on the light sw on the steering post. Been running them this way as per the wiring diagram in the manual for more yrs than i can remember.
