Dave: My dad experienced breaking his H in half at this point back in 1955. The tractor was new in 1951. We hadn't noticed this being loose, however upon inspection after disassembling the tractor, one could clearly see the two castings had been working on each other. Yes, the tractor had a loader on it and had done a lot of loader work. A local welding shop owner at that time suggested it was not the fault of an H not being rugged enough for a loader. He suggested that if all castings on a Farmall H or M were bolted tightly, there was no man alive tough enough to put these tractors through a normal farm work pace, and break castings. His contention, man will break before the tractor. My suggestion, you tighten these bolt as tight as possible with an 18" to 24" wrench handle.
