It kind of sounds like a parts mag to me. Do not wire brush or steel wool the internal rotor scotch brite would probly work unless its to rusty.Are the pawls worn or the pawl springs there and ok?The dist gear is something that you may be able to find used the rotor hubs are about 20.00 new and yes put at least new points condenser in it and check or have the coil checked . You can bead blast or light sand the aluninum parts but make sure every thing is clean before you asemble.
