A lot of good suggestions here. If you want to prove that the problem is in the gas tank before removing it, try hooking up a small gas tank, like a tank that is on a lawn mower, directly to the carb and try running it off of the temp tank. If it runs off of that tank, you know where the problem is for sure. It takes a little jury rigging but might save you some time in the long run.
