My father bought a 4020 with a turbo in 1979. It was a 1968 model with about 5000 hours on it. I assume the engine had not been overhauled. We did not abuse or overwork the tractor just because it had a turbo and could do more work. My uncle also had a 4020 (no turbo). Our 4020 used quite a bit less fuel. My father's 4020 was bought by a family friend that still owns it. It now has over 10,000 hours and is still on the original engine and has never had the rear end or transmission worked on. This turbo after market add-on saved fuel and did not negatively affect the longevity of the tractor. Pound foolish? Not in this case.
