Thanks for all the replys. To cover some of the replys fuel flows freely from line when detached from carb, and from bowl drain. Float height and drop set to reproduction owners manual &/or servicemans guide from IH dealer. The Gunk I was refering to is the stuff in the what looks like a gallon paint can with the little basket for small parts in it made for de-gunking carbs. I'll take it apart again and check that little slot by the butterfly. Also tried richening mixture both with idle mixture screw and main jet screw. I'm very familiar with Marvel/Schebler carbs, just never had to touch the H before. I'll let you know what I find.
