50 series

I realize these machines don't qualify as antique yet, but I thought IH had a great idea when they introduced the 5088/5288/5488 tractors with the reversed cooling fan. I was disappointed when Case gobbled up IH, and immediately dumped the reverse fan design(along with IH's hydrostatic tractors). Any thoughts on why?? Were there any faults with either of these concepts that you were aware of? Or was Case just "jealous" of IH's better ideas?
