I'm reasonably certain that acetone has a lower BTU value than regular gasoline. If so, I don't see how it can be the magic elixer that some claim it to be.
Different engines WILL respond differently to changes in fuel mixture, driving habits, climate conditions, altitude variations, etc. I have serious doubts that acetone, moth balls, or other common household chemicals can be dumped into the gas (or diesel) tank and produce gains in either horsepower or mileage across the board.
When someone sets up a controlled, scientific study on this stuff, let me know.
