They claim its not the BTU value, but the cleaning properties and "tension breaking" ability of the Acetone that makes fuel burn more completely, making more efficient use of the fuel there is to burn. I would like to think that there is something to this....but I am still skeptical. How come this is the first time I have ever heard of this....Acetone in gasoline...Where was all this talk when gas went over $1.00 for the first time? This LaPointe guy who has supposibly used Acetone since the 1950s...how old is he now? 50+20 would be 70+ years old.And where did he ever get the idea to use Acetone in the first place? Surely was no internet or infomercials back then. With gas at 19-29 cents a gallon,I cant believe any cheapskate would try to eek out more gas mileage back then.Gas consumption just wasnt much of an issue back then....hence the inception of the OHV American V8 during the 50s...not small 4 cylinder 30+ mpg subcompacts.....(The Henry J/Crosley wasnt a big seller afterall).
