Tractors were not the only ones with heads cracking. GM had the same problem with their 2.5
Liter engine. Never had to be overheated either.
I found bubbles in the recovery tank and pulled the head thinking it was a head gasket. Had it magna-fluxed and the head was cracked. Got 5 or 6
used heads and they were cracked too. Had to buy a new head OUCH. Hal
