Have 2 140 both good shape and all equipment which goes with both. They are left over from our tobacco days. Interested in starting back farming some mostly Roundup soybeans maybe little wheat for rotation. Good off farm job. Little profit to be made already know. Opportunity to buy JD 6600 combine good condition very reasonable. Most of work would just be me. Would like to get another tractor and would sell one of the 140's if they were not my grandaddy's can't bring myself to do that plus I know what have with them and someting used don't even if locally purchased cause it's second hand. Also got chance to get 3020 diesel powershift which is in good condition fairly reasonble under 5000. But would want to show small profit so am hesitant to tie much money up in only one thing at time such as combine. Combine is in good shape so think I would be ok on maintenance with it. 40 acres about all want to take on right now considering equipment limitations and plenty time left for family. Dilema is can't decide whether to buy tractor too. We used to tend shade over 100 acres mostly tobacco with 3000 Ford which sold and 2 140's. Gonna retire about 15 so more years and keep the farm up. Any thoughts/advice on the situation I'd gladly read appreciate. Go with 140's drilling the beans or think about getting the 3020 as well. Course more equip more maintenance and most likely to make on sandy loamy land on good year on beans is shade over 2000 dollars. Thanks on thoughts.
