It's rare not to get some small meatal pieces from the trans when you pull the filter and yes they could be from the pto as they are in a common reservoir. Did you pull all 5 or 6 drain plugs or just one? You should get at least 14 gallons out. If the oil was as bad as you stated I would change it again even if I had gotten all of it out, as you never do get the last couple of gallons out. Make sure to drop the three point when draining. There is a plug at the front of the trans, one in the middle of the trans, one under the rear end hidden by the drawbar, one on each final drive and one on the PTO. Good luck. Jake
