Hi Allan, my name's Mike. I did the test. Closest thing I could do was lifting the biggest pile of snow I could find. Couldn't hear anything either way. (Hopefully that's good) Yes, the little handle does let the bucket down. To be honest with you I have used the little thing but why, I don't know. I also don't know if the whole system is plumbed wrong. I know that I noticed the bucket creeping down about 3yrs. ago. I'm sure it held it's position before that. Hopefully this South Dakota weather will warm up this weekend so I can work on this a little more.
