We are talking about screen resolution here. The resolution of your computer screen is 72 dots per inch. When you post a picture with a higher resolution, the picture shows up larger. Although a high resolution is great for printing a picture, it takes a lot more bandwidth, and shows up a lot bigger than a picture that has been properly sized for the Internet.
