I bought a 1946 H that had a Magneto on it, but the previous owner wired a external coil to it and by passed the original one, maybe becasue it was bad or whatnot. Anyway, I wasn't getting spark one day, and replaced points ETC. and still nothing, So I just took it off, NOW i had the choice of buying a completly rebuilt H-4 Magneto off ebay, or put on a distributor ignition, But i deicided to go with the rebuilt magneto, But it on new plugs and plug wires and i'm happy as can be. I guess i jsut wanted to keep it original....I really wanted to put in the distributor igntion becasue i wanted to put in a POINT-LESS electronic ignuition, but I bought the magneto instead....I don't think you can put an electronic ignition in a mgneto..CAN YOU? Anyway...I'm getting off topic, I think everything has thier advatages and dis's, I seem to like the magneto for now, but who knows when it may fail....BTW I bought my magneto from a gentlemen off EBAY for 139.99....It works and looks like brand new.... And thats a fantastic price compared to what you would pay for a rebuilt one from a tractor supply catalog. Here's the link to another that he has listed. http://cgi.ebay.com/MAGNETO-H4-REBUILT-FARMALL-IHC-H-M-B-A-C-BN-MAG-SUPER_W0QQitemZ7583346710QQcategoryZ63967QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
