That starter is a Delco "30 MT" series.

AFAIK, 1108996 is the important number, I believe the "7925" is a date code, anyhow it has NO relation to the jobber # 7951 solenoid you have.

Now, I guess we know why it was chattering, if the plunger doesn't match the solenoid, and you had to modify it!

Hopefully, your new solenoid will solve the problem. I will look up some of these numbers at the shop tomorrow.
