Thanks guys! Bob M - I kinda figured that the internal regulator had gone beserk, but as this was a newly rebuilt (first installation) I now may be inclined to agree that maybe something got between the regulator shorting tab and case ground. How do I find the shorting tab on the alternator? Bob - Really appreciate your input, if you can't get to it, maybe I can just do a search on regulator replacement! And if you know where I can get one??? John T - I guess knowing that a "new" alternator fixed the problem, my wiring is ok. That said, I agree that a resistor is a good idea, just didn't have any. And - Radio Shack no longer exists in Canada! So, I have to come up with another source for diodes and resistors!
