Not sure about your engine, but the Detroit diesel has an emergency shutdown. If someone accidently pulls this the engine will smoke, but won't start. When this is activated it shuts off the intake air to the engine. The Cummins uses a lot of overspeed shutdown. This is usually connected to the tach drive driven by the cam. If this engine happens to go above the set speed on the overspeed it won't start until the overspeed is reset. I would give that engine a little whiff of ether to see if it fires without the glowplugs. Hal
